Man charged after allegedly beating mom to death, stuffing body in duffel bag, records say

HARRIS COUNTY, Texas (KTRK) -- A man has been charged after his mother's body was found in a duffel bag after she was allegedly beaten to death in west Harris County, according to court records.

Officials said that Arman Malik is facing a murder charge after court records said he"unlawfully intended" to cause serious bodily harm to Dyna De Malik with his hands by striking her in the head.

The Harris County Sheriff's Office was called to a home on Valley Knoll Drive on September 1, 2026 at 10 p.m. after the woman's daughter said she was unable to reach Dyna. Inside, deputies made a gruesome discovery.

According to records, there was a smell of a decomposing body, leading them to find Dyna's body wrapped in a blood-stained bedsheet inside a duffel bag.

Deputies said there was also a pool of blood seeping onto the carpet from the bag and blood spatter on the nearby dresser.

Officials said that Arman had been found sleeping and appeared to be under the influence before he was taken to the hospital, after reportedly losing consciousness. Detectives also reported seeing what appeared to be dried blood under his fingernails and scratches around his hands. Detectives also said cameras in the house appeared to have been moved at the scene, court records say.

Arman was treated before being arrested when he was released from the hospital. Initially, he had only been charged with tampering with a corpse, but it was later upgraded to murder.

Neighbors and family familiar with the mother and son said Arman had recently moved in with his mother, who had recently expressed her concern about him coming to live with her.

The suspect appeared in court early Tuesday morning where officials learned of his previous conviction in 2014 for robbery and a DWI charge. The defense representing Arman said he did have psychological issues and is in need of medical treatment while asking for a $10,000 bond amount.

According to records, his bond total was later changed to $500,000.
